Shanghai Museum of Glass Park wins three Red Dot Awards

Three COO projects located in the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park have been awarded a Red Dot in Communication Design! Together with Red Dot: Best of the Best winner Nike Studio Beijing, four Red Dot wins in Spatial Communication – spanning Exhibition, Hospitality, and Retail Design – makes COO the first design agency to be awarded this many in the category in a single year. But we are part of the bigger picture: design in China is starting to be noticed and gain more influence around the world.

Winner 1: Kids Museum of Glass
One of the most visited venues of the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park, the Kids Museum of Glass has been heralded as China’s first design museum for children. Designed to be as tactile as possible for an unforgettable learning experience, the museum is imagined as a “Glass City” and divided into The Beach, The Circus, and The Factory, complete with a DIY workshop, cafe, and gift shop.

Winner 2: Rainbow Chapel
The Rainbow Chapel is a wedding chapel like none you’ve ever seen; a circular structure made up of 3,060 colorful shapes that are reflected through the interior like a kaleidoscope. Enhancing the ideas of unity and marriage, the Rainbow Chapel has become a unique site for wedding ceremonies, as well as choral concerts and other intimate gatherings.

Winner 3: Design Wing
An extension of the Shanghai Museum of Glass, the Design Wing houses the permanent collection of the museum park, displaying dozens of exquisite glass designs. Imagined as a stark contrast to the dark and enveloping atmosphere of the Main Hall, the Design Wing is bright and open like an artist’s studio, bringing to life the work of renowned glass designers from around the world. Installations ideated by COO adorn stairwells and walls using neon lights and mirrors to bring a playfulness to the space.

The Red Dot has established itself internationally as one of the most coveted seals of quality for good design. The Red Dot Design Award documents the most incisive trends around the world in everything from products to communication projects, packaging to design concept and prototypes. The award-winning designs are exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museums around the world.

These wins have put the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park on the international design map, and for that our gratitude goes out to everyone involved. Thank you for helping make our Park an unforgettable experience!
