Red Dot: Best of the Best goes to our Nike Studio Beijing

The Nike Studio hit another one out of the park – this time, it’s the Red Dot: Best of the Best award!

The Red Dot jury awarded the coveted Red Dot: Best of the Best in Communication Design 2016 to COO for Nike Studio Beijing. In sessions that lasted several days, the 26 experts on the Red Dot jury evaluated each of the large number of entries individually. This year saw designers and companies from a total of 46 countries take part in the award. Every year, a select few projects particularly stand out from the numerous entries because of their exceptional design and innovative approach. These projects are recognized with the Red Dot: Best of the Best, the award for outstanding design quality.

“The increasingly international nature of our competition is proof of its growing reputation in the global design world,” says Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot. “We are very happy with this year’s competition and are delighted at the very high standard of the award-winning projects from around the world. In today’s world, communication designers have become the catalysts between the worlds of language, economics and technology – in other words, they are the engines of progress.”

As a winner in Retail Design, the Best of the Best distinction in Spatial Communication makes a total number of four wins for COO – the first design agency to be awarded this many in the category in a single year.

Nike Studio Beijing is a pop-up workout studio and retail exhibition space set in a downtown Beijing gallery. Using light, mirrors, texture, and traditional sport design elements to bring to life the Nike brand values of perseverance and speed, the space aims to make everyone who steps inside feel like a world-class athlete.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated and assisted in the realization of this project. It has become a dedication to the importance of design in retail and branding, and we hope to reverberate its effects for many projects to come.
